So much changes when you become a parent. It turns your whole world upside down in the most wonderful way! You very rarely get to put yourself first anymore, but that’s OK because you don’t really want to. That little person means more to you than you could have ever imagined and being a parent makes your heart so full of love and happiness.
Wait for it…. BUT
There are things that you are always going to miss about your life pre-baby!
One of those things for me… is hangover days! The ones where you lay on the sofa all day, eat your own weight in unhealthy food and marathon the entire 7 seasons of Game Of Thrones (because if John Snow doesn’t make you feel better.. nothing will)
You can kiss goodbye to those bad boys once you become a parent. Those days are long gone!
Parent hangover days start before they have even begun! Guaranteed your kid will have slept through for the last 5 nights but they choose to get you up at 4am. You’re still drunk and end up stumbling into their room to settle them back down. They then wake you for the day at 6:30am, even though they’ve slept in until 8am all week (they can sense all the fun you had last night without them and this is how they will punish you.)
You have to get up early and be a parent all day! That includes running around after them and changing gross nappies regardless of whether or not it’s gonna make you vom. They are gonna make you watch a marathon day of telly tubbies (no Game Of Thrones for you!)
Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I wish I could go back and tell my pre-baby self to enjoy my hangover days more! Like “stop moaning you big girl! Enjoy your baby free hangover from hell, YOU KNOW NOTHING.. JOHN SNOW!!”
How do you all get through your hangover days? Baby or no baby, they can be a little rough! Let me know in the comments below.
